TROWBRIDGE CARDIGAN
Wrap yourself in this cozy cardigan, featuring an elegant cable collar that hugs the neck and a gently curved hem for extra length in the back. Subtle A-line shaping and set in sleeves complete the classic look. FINISHED MEASUREMENTS: Bust - 34½ (38½, 42½, 46½)(50½, 56, 62½)", based on twice finished back measurement. Fronts overlap slightly at bust. Intended to be worn with 2-4" of ease. Back length at shoulder - 24¾ (25¼, 25¾, 26¼)(26¾, 27¼, 28¼)". Front length at shoulder - 2½" shorter than back length. YARN: 1170 (1315, 1470, 1640)(1800, 2005, 2255) yds worsted weight wool or wool blend. Shown in Malabrigo "Rios" (100% superwash merino wool; 210yds/100g) - 212 Gris. 6 (7, 7, 8)(9, 10, 11) skeins. NEEDLES: U.S. size 7 (4.5mm) 32" (80cm) or longer circular needle. Circular needle is used to accommodate the large number of stitches. Adjust needle size as needed to obtain correct gauge. OTHER: Stitch holders, removable stitch markers, cable needle, extra needle in same size for 3-needle bind off, tapestry needle. GAUGE: 20 sts/28 rows = 4" in stockinette, blocked. 22 sts/28 rows = 4" in Cable Rib, blocked, slightly stretched. SKILL LEVEL: Intermediate. Techniques include long tail cast on, decreases, cables, short rows, 3-needle bind off, and picking up stitches. CONSTRUCTION: The back and fronts are worked separately from the bottom up, with decreases for an A-line silhouette and short rows to shape the hem. The shoulders are shaped with short rows and joined with 3-needle bind off. Collar bands are knit along with the fronts, and joined at the back neck.
