SALISBURY CARDIGAN
This lacy cardigan with three quarter length sleeves and simple twisted cord ties is the perfect way to welcome spring. No more bundling up - slip this on over a cotton dress or tee shirt and jeans for something light and pretty. FINISHED MEASUREMENTS: Bust - 37¼ (40¼, 43, 46)(47½, 50¼, 53¼)". Intended to be worn with 0-2" of ease. Length - 21¾ (22¼, 22¾, 23¼)(23¼, 23¾, 23¾)". YARN: 1130 (1243, 1348, 1516)(1568, 1668, 1738) yds DK weight wool or wool blend. Shown in: Yankee Dyer Yarns "Yankee Breeze DK" (50% superwash merino wool/ 50% cotton; 232yds/100g). 5 (6, 6, 7)(7, 8, 8) skeins. Sea Glass. NEEDLES: U.S. size 5 (3.75mm) 32" (80cm) circular needle. Circular needle is used to accommodate the large number of stitches. Adjust needle size as needed to obtain correct gauge. OTHER: Removable stitch markers, stitch holders, spare needles and/or waste yarn, extra needle in same size for 3-needle bind off, tapestry needle. GAUGE: 22 sts/32 rows = 4", in stockinette, blocked. Lace - 7 sts/10 rows = 1¼" x 1¼", lightly blocked. SKILL LEVEL: Intermediate. Techniques include long tail cast on, m1 increases, decreases, short rows, 3-needle bind off, and twisted cord (optional). CONSTRUCTION: The back, fronts, and 3/4 length sleeves are knit separately from the bottom up to the armholes and then joined. The armholes and sleeve caps are shaped at the same time, using double and single decreases. The sleeve caps are bound off at the top and the fronts and back are then worked separately to shape the shoulders and back neck. The shoulders, shaped with short rows, are joined with 3-needle bind off and then seamed to the tops of the sleeves. The collar band is knit along with the fronts, joined at the center back, and sewn to the back neck.
