MEADOWBROOK CARDIGAN
A little lace, a ruffled collar, luscious cashmere, and pretty buttons create a cardigan to satisfy the most romantic soul. FINISHED MEASUREMENTS: Bust - 35¾ (37¾, 40, 42, 43½)(45¾, 47¾, 50, 52)", buttoned. Intended to be worn with 1 - 2" of ease. Size shown is 35¾, worn with 2" of ease. Length - 22½ (23, 23, 23½, 23½)(24, 24, 24½, 24½)". YARN: 1155 (1200, 1250, 1340, 1390)(1465, 1540, 1610, 1665) yds DK weight wool or wool blend. Shown in Backyard Fiberworks "Meadow" (80% merino wool, 10% cashmere, 10% nylon; 231yds/100g). 5 (6, 6, 6, 6)(7, 7, 7, 8) skeins. Sample shown in Deep Creek. NEEDLES: U.S. size 5 (3.75mm) 32" circular needle. Circular needle is used to accommodate the large number of sts required for the collar and buttonband. Adjust needle size as needed to obtain correct gauge. OTHER: Stitch holders, tapestry needle, removable stitch markers, extra needle for 3-needle bind off. Five ⅝" (16mm) buttons. GAUGE: 22 sts/31 rows = 4" in stockinette, blocked. Lace Chart A (11 sts) = 2" wide. Lace Chart B (7 sts) = 1¼" wide. Cable Charts (4 sts) = ½" wide. SKILL LEVEL: Intermediate. Techniques include long tail cast on, 3-needle bind off, short row shoulder shaping, picking up stitches, m1 increases, cables, lace, and reading charts. CONSTRUCTION: The fronts and back are knit separately from the bottom up and the shoulders are shaped with short rows and seamed with 3-needle bind off. The sleeves are knit flat from the bottom up and set into the armholes.
